How to use the Divide & Conquer Rule to become a successful digital marketer?

Coronavirus pandemic has taught one great lesson — “online business is the only feasible working solution”. The Internet is essential to everyone now and every business is going online. In this hunt, connecting to a company no longer means going to their offices and applying for jobs, etc. Today you can work remotely, do spare tasks, or build a new startup — all by just using your personal computer.

Digital marketing or internet marketing is one such field that is open to everyone despite all the competition. You can earn a little or more every month and slowly grow to earn thousands of dollars within a year.

I know a friend of mine who started digital marketing just 3 years ago and today he’s making over 80,000 dollars yearly by selling courses, doing link building and affiliate marketing. Even I make close to 110,000 a year by selling my design work, sponsored posts, and advertisements.

Try to understand the pattern.

Brian Dean, Neil Patel, Ankit Singhla, Amit Agarwal, Harsh Agarwal – you name them, every single successful digital marketer is doing two or three things at once to make money.

If you’ve been sticking to a single niche, wake up. Diversify yourself. Grab one more digital colony and rule over it.

But how?

Well, all you need to do is to follow a proper plan. That’s why I wrote this article.

Let’s see how you should plan it and what you must do to become a money making machine.

Planning

Planning is important.

Very important. Unplanned things fail more than often.

So, start planning — plan even your day for your own sake. Decide when you will wake up and what you will do after you leave the bed.

Plan how much time you’d be giving to various tasks — like eating, reading, resting.

You should take at least 7 hours of sleep, as the work you are going to do needs your brain to be totally active.

Of the 24 hours, you have 17 hours remaining which you can plan upon. Give 2 hours to food, bath & some rest.

Do book reading for 2 hours at least. That’s what successful people do. Reading books must be a habit. Your mind must urge you to read something. In the start that may seem tough and useless but once you get used to it, you will totally understand why I recommended it. The people who read books are more likely to be successful.

I can write hundreds of books on how reading is important, but for now let’s just focus on the topic. [PS: Reading increases focus too.]

You have 13 hours left. Use one hour to socialize with yourself. Use Facebook, LinkedIn or walkout and meet some people.

Now we have a flat 12 hours.

Get a website. Build a homepage and a blog. This is going to be your identity and trademark for life. Take a day or two for this. Hire someone good to help you build a great aura, if you can’t do it on your own.

Again, we have a flat 12 hours, right?

Use four slots of 25 minutes along with a 5 minute break with each slot to browse different blogs and articles. Make sure you leave a comment to make the blog owners know that you exist.

Fact: Leaving a comment can also help you gain some traffic and build backlinks.

These slots need not to be consecutive. You can do this for half an hour and then skip to the next part of your plan.

These four slots will take up to 2 hours. You have 10 hours left.

Now divide these 10 hours into three parts: 4+2+3+1.

  • 4 hours will go to your primary work.
  • 2 hours will go to the promotion & advertising of your primary work.
  • 3 hours will go to your secondary work.
  • 1 hour will be used in the promotion and advertising of your secondary work.

I will talk about primary and secondary works in this article soonest. Keep reading.

Divide your work

It is important that your work doesn’t take a toll on your life. A digital marketer must divide his work into at least two parts. For example, I am a blogger and designer. Currently blogging is the primary work and design is the secondary work. The same needs to be done. Secondary work should be like your Plan-B.

Primary work gives 60-70% revenue while secondary work helps you go through in tough times with an added bonus.

In the options below, decide which one is your primary work and which one is secondary.

  • Social Media Marketing
  • Search Engine Optimization (shouldn’t be taken with Link Building as SEO already includes link building)
  • Content writing
  • Graphic designing
  • Inbound marketing
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Copywriting (shouldn’t be taken with Content Writing)
  • Conversion rate optimization
  • WordPress speed optimization
  • Search Engine Marketing (shouldn’t be taken with SEO)
  • Link Building (shouldn’t be taken with SEO as SEO includes link building)
  • Email marketing
  • Blogging

Choose one as primary work and other as secondary work and note those on a paper and stick on a wall.

Every single one of these has the potential to make loads of money for you, so don’t think any as inferior. Invest time and effort accordingly, and you can grow at a level higher than ever before.

Conquer your work

After the work division, the next thing that you need  to do is – to rule over your primary and secondary works. There are hundreds of articles that can help you do better in something.

Just Google for “How to do X”, where X is your primary work or secondary work.

Sometimes, you may need to adjust both at once, in such cases try to find guides that can help you do more than one thing. For example, if you considered choosing Social Media Marketing and Email Marketing as your primary and secondary work objectives, you should read some books or blogs that can help you do both together.

Searching for “How to do X and Y together” on Google can help too. Here X and Y are your primary and secondary works.

Similarly, you can explore tools and resources that suit your niche and help fulfill your purposes. Don’t forget to follow the top people and their work in your niche. Premier people’s work can help and motivate newbies to boost-start their careers.

Also follow BlogWithVK.com everywhere to stay informed about such trends on a regular basis.

Good luck and stay safe.
